Meet Rocky Surface, the host of the show who will make you laugh at his corny jokes and will introduce you to missionaries all week “via satellite.” Today you will meet Ziden Nutt who was a missionary in Africa and eventually founded Good News Productions, International. You will also meet Johnnie and Katie, two ordinary kids who find ways that they can help missionaries.
Nenette Pacoli who works with GNPI-Philippines will chat with Rocky today. She heads up the studio in Manila, Philippines and will share what life is like there – food, transportation, and even what kids do for fun in that country. You will hear a little bit of Tagalog, the official language of the Philippines. Nenette will tell you about a movie called All Things New that was filmed in the Philippines by her crew. This true story is about four boys who lived on the street and were rescued by a ministry called Christians’ Haven.
Rocky will talk to Mike Schrage about the time he and his family spent in Africa as missionaries. Mike loves to speak in Swahili, so you will hear some of that. He will also tell you about an orphanage he and his family started and some new, exciting projects that are happening at GNPI-Africa right now—like Christian music videos! Some of these music videos are being played on the African version of MTV.
Today, Rocky will give you a peek into the life of someone who lives in Mexico. Norka Escobar de Stover joins him “via satellite” from Piedras Negras, Mexico. GNPI-Mexico recently published a book for Spanish-speaking children called Maya La Bella Guacamaya (Maya The Beautiful Macaw), written totally in Spanish. Norka will speak a little bit of Spanish and share what kids do in Mexico (where they go to school and what they do for fun).
Sheela Lall from India will be visiting the studio “via satellite” today. She will introduce kids to a television program called Express ‘O’ Yourself, produced by GNPI-India, Damoh. She will also discuss what it is like to tell people in India about Jesus. Sheela will share ways that kids can get involved in spreading God’s Word through helping missionaries.
Day six is designed to recap the week. This will be a great video to use for the closing program. All week long, Rocky gave his missionary guest a chance to ask the kids to remember one special thing about their country. These things are included in the presentation on this last day. Parents will also see clips of each missionary who visited Rocky “via satellite,” and the kids will be reminded of the countries they learned about - Africa, the Philippines, Mexico, and India.
