An article about a storybook for children, written in Spanish, was featured in the April 2006 GNPI newsletter. We are excited to announce that Maya, the Beautiful Macaw (La Bella Guacamaya) has arrived! This book, vibrantly colored and brilliantly written, emphasizes the importance of everyone’s unique gifts. Highlighting the importance of humility, the book appeals to a younger, Spanish-speaking audience. (Download April 2006 Newsletter)
Maya, the Beautiful Macaw would be a great gift for a church or group to give in quantity to a missionary they support who is serving in a Spanish-speaking area. It would be an effective outreach tool. This book was painstakingly crafted and written to fit every Spanish-speaking country, not just Mexico.

Children in Equatorial Guinea, Africa enjoying Maya!
Maya’s story will speak to children in their own language and has pictures of animals they will recognize. Maya’s experience ultimately speaks about God’s existence and will reveal the love of Jesus to young readers!
This book is also an excellent tool for short-term mission teams to use (and maybe even give away) while traveling to a Spanish-speaking area. As Todd Smith, part of the team that worked on the book, points out, "If (Spanish-speaking) kids were given a book like this, it would mean so much to them . . . they would probably keep it for a long, long time and appreciate it very much. There is an enormous shortage of good stuff for kids in Spanish."
