59 Seekers

All Things New Poster The rumor got out. There was a free movie called All Things New about to start in the cinema at a mall in the Philippines. Kids started to come. They didn’t care that it was a Christian movie—it was free. When it was over, 59 kids came forward at the invitation.

Regional Director Nennete PacoliNenette Pacoli had asked the minister of a church that was meeting in that cinema if they could extend their time one weekend and allow GNPI-Philippines to use the extra time after the service to hold their premier showing. The church was more than willing. So Nenette and her crew got to work inviting local community pastors and leaders to the first showing—the premier showing of the Tagalog version of the movie, All Things New.

All along, God had a plan. The minister decided it would be a great opportunity to do something a little different. He asked if they could show the movie as a part of their youth service, and the people Nenette had invited could use the cinema afterwards for their private showing. Of course, the answer was “yes.”

Sections of the seating area had been roped off to direct people to sit closer together and toward the front. Word got out about the free movie, and the kids started streaming in. Gradually the ropes had to be moved further back so that everyone could find seats. Eventually they just removed the ropes all together. When it was time for All Things New to start, almost every seat was filled—about 300 in all—filled with the kids who were hanging out at the mall.

As a result, 59 young people went forward to learn more!
