Wildflowers and Dancing Children

During my recent visit to GNPI’s regional center in Ukraine, Sergei Golovin, our regional director, told me about a children’s Christmas musical that his team was preparing to videotape. I added it to my list of ‘future projects’ and moved on to a discussion of other projects they were considering. The truth is, a Christmas musical for children didn’t really sound too exciting to me, especially when compared to some of the other teaching materials they had on the agenda.

Now, it’s deteriorated to erotic and vulgar videos that I hope my daughters never see! Many fear it’s too late to reclaim the minds of youth who are captivated by this stuff. The other day I had one of those happy "Yes!" moments when I FedExed a CD to Bob Sartoris, International Director for GNPI, in time for him to take it with him on his trip to Nairobi, Kenya. The CD contains all the files for a printer to produce the book version of our Tumaini Hotel for distribution to high school libraries all over Kenya.

The shop owner overheard the conversation, when in chagrin the American lamented that he didn’t have any more The Source of Love DVDs to give away to this student who wanted to know more about Christ.

Kamau Karongo was born in Gachie, Kenya in 1980. There were 9 kids in his family! Wow! “I started singing in church as a small boy. I was saved in 1999 but even before then I was drawn to the work and ministry of the church. I think my mum’s death really made me rethink my life. It was then that I gave my life to Christ.”

The Greatest Tool Ever Given

The place—Monterrey, Mexico. The date—March 5, 2003. Robert Gurwell was presented as the Director of Hispanic Advancement. Gustavo Velazquez was introduced as the Regional Director of Mexico. A teaching program was launched before the crowd of 800 people, including many government officials. Excitement filled the air as one evangelist said, “This is the greatest tool we have ever been given for evangelism.”
