When the Neighbor’s House is on Fire, Should I Cut My Lawn?
By Mike Schrage on
I speak to a lot of churches about missions and global outreach opportunities. Some visits are in general terms of world mission needs and some visits are to share specific opportunities through Good News Productions, International. One of the comments that I often hear is, “Mike, we know that there is need overseas, but there is a lot of work here too!” Now I don’t disagree that the task of winning our increasingly secular-based country to the Lord is challenging. And I applaud any spiritual engagement kingdom workers make to others in this country. However, . . .

To the moon and back; anything is possible!
By Bob Sartoris on
On the 20th of this month, we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing. I won’t admit exactly how old I was when that happened, but suffice it to say I do remember watching it live on our family’s black and white console TV. At the time, it seemed nearly impossible that we were down here on earth watching it live from around 238,000 miles away. That one single event, more than anything I’ve experienced since, planted in my mind the idea that when it comes to human ingenuity and determination, anything is possible!

A Billion are Hungry—What Should We Do?
By Mike Schrage on

I read recently that the number of people going hungry everyday has reached one billion for the first time in history. (Click for full story.) What is a billion of anything? One person put it this way – if you could feed a thousand people a day, 365 days a year, it would take you 2,740 YEARS to feed a billion hungry people! And that’s just to give them one meal!

Worth It All
By Ziden Nutt on

It was in a “closed country,” and we’ll use the alias name of Henry for the evangelist. Word had not been received from “Henry” for over three months. Finally, a letter arrived.

Lots of People Fish
By Mike Schrage on
Millions do it to have food and many others do it for pleasure. Jesus picked up on this lifestyle and told his selected tribe of followers that He wanted them to follow Him because He would make them “fishers of men.” The followers understood that concept and as the Scriptures record, “left all” to follow Jesus. This would include Peter, his brother, and some of their other fishing buddies.

Good Tools
By GNPI on
Written by Bill Groom, Missions and Outreach Minister at Compass Christian Church in Colleyville, Texas
My world as a Missions Pastor is changing in some good ways. Airfares are relatively low; many people want to travel and do something significant; and there is a new generation of young people ready and willing to sacrifice and serve the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe Christians who are not called “to go and be missionaries” are called to be senders of missionaries. Our church is trying to learn how to be the best “sending church” we can be. We want to send missionary workers with good tools.

Did You Know You Are Part of a Legacy in the Making?
By Mike Schrage on
Let me explain.
Communication in the form of writing has been around for millennia. For example, there are nine different types of hieroglyphics or “sacred carvings” that were used between 3200 BC and AD 400 by various cultures.
Luke tells us that Zachariah asked for a tablet to write the name of his son, John. John tells us that Jesus wrote in the dirt...

Harvest Field
By Mike Schrage on
The elderly couple went slowly through the food line with their trays at the church building’s cafeteria. They ate in silence and listened with eagerness to the update about the ministry of Good News Productions, International. After the presentation they hurriedly came up to me, excited to share that they considered themselves “pioneers after a fashion” of the ministry of GNPI!
