Becoming a “new creature”
By Bob Sartoris on
One of the iconic images of ancient India is the snake charmer, sitting cross-legged on the ground, playing a gourd flute as a venomous cobra emerges from a woven basket. As the snake rises, displaying its distinctive hood, onlookers gawk and shy away in fear of the potential threat.

Stories of God change lives!
By Bob Sartoris on
On my recent visit to northern India, I was asked to preach for the local people. I was told that many of them may not be Christians. Apparently, when people are attracted to Christianity, they will often come to attend church services, but generally watch from the sidelines. After observing and listening to the teachings about Christ for several months, some will become convicted of their sins and will then commit to follow Him.

Using Storytelling in Ministry
By Bob Sartoris on
Everyone loves a good story, and GNPI strives to tell the story of Christ in ways that connect with people in their own culture. For some, storytelling is an extremely powerful form of communication.
This is especially true in China, where it is not easy to openly profess to be a Christian. Doing so makes one vulnerable to the whims of the government who at times is very harsh toward believers. The result is that there are many believers who fear that participating in church worship or other activities may be dangerous. In other words, they believe but don’t openly practice their faith.

India Pilgrimage Is Obligation, Not Fun
By Bob Sartoris on
At the end of a long day on bad roads, I finally laid eyes on the Golden Temple in Amritsar, India, a popular tourist spot and holy site that millions of Sikh believers visit yearly. It was nearly 9 pm but the place was packed with pilgrims, standing in line for the free food, ritually cleansing themselves in the sacred pool or waiting to gain entrance to where the holy gurus were worshipping. I followed the traditions and removed my shoes, washed my feet and covered my head. That’s when I saw the TV camera.

Set the Captives Free!
By Mike Schrage on
I sat across the table with David and Sheela Lall, (global workers in India) and was fully engrossed in their narrative. You see, David serves as continental director for Good News Productions, International in India and he was sharing about the recent persecution of Christians in the Orissa region of northern India. We need to remember that only 2% of the population of India is Christian!

Victory in India Court Case!
By GNPI on
On September 30, 2008, we sent an email to all of you who have requested to be on our email list, asking you to join us in prayer for the Damoh, India center. There had been legal suits brought against the Mid-India Christian Mission there, and one in particular was to take land away. On this land, they had begun to build a much-needed church building. Because of this suit, construction had to stop and the building has just been sitting there, waiting for a judgment. This decision would either require that the building be torn down, or that the construction could continue.

Benevolence or Evangelism
By Ziden Nutt on

The debate goes on! Is benevolent action social gospel? Or, is there a place for it in evangelism? A classic statement was made by Samuel Moffet, “There is nothing quite so crippling to evangelism and social action as to confuse them in definition or to separate them in practice.”

We are floating in a bubble of great joy and gratitude to God! The past few days were like living in a dream world as we witnessed the greatest revival at our church. God intervened on our behalf and we finally received the amazing decision from the High Court about the approval and authorization to finish our half constructed church building after 4½ long years of struggle.

Copy, Right?
By Mike Schrage on
The young American was teaching English as a second language in China. He was sipping tea one afternoon as he shared his faith with an inquisitive student. The shop owner overheard the conversation, when in chagrin the American lamented that he didn’t have any more The Source of Love DVDs to give away to this student who wanted to know more about Christ.
