To the moon and back; anything is possible!

On the 20th of this month, we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing. I won’t admit exactly how old I was when that happened, but suffice it to say I do remember watching it live on our family’s black and white console TV. At the time, it seemed nearly impossible that we were down here on earth watching it live from around 238,000 miles away. That one single event, more than anything I’ve experienced since, planted in my mind the idea that when it comes to human ingenuity and determination, anything is possible!
When we think about the goal of reaching every person on this earth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, it does seem to be an impossible task. The numbers would appear to be against us, since it would involve communicating with over 4.2 billion people. At the same time, if we consider the doors of opportunity that God has opened for the ministry of GNPI through the years, perhaps He will show us a way for this enormous challenge to be met using technologies not yet envisioned.
Consider how solar panels were used in playing gospel filmstrip programs in rural Asia where no electricity was available. Or how NASA first chose GNPI to be the provider of nonsectarian biblical content for broadcasting on it’s pioneering communication satellite project. Even now, the Internet has made the sharing of video, audio, and other teaching materials across the globe an instantly available and virtually cost-free distribution method that has changed the way we operate.
God only knows what the next great technology is going to be. We keep watching and exploring the technical horizon, hoping to see opportunities that will expand our ability to reach more and more people. It may seem to be a daunting task from a human perspective, but we have confidence that God will show us ways to take advantage of the ingenuity and determination He has placed within us. As we seek to use the tools around us to share the story of Christ around the world, we like to think ‘anything is possible!’
What tools do you see on the horizon for us to use in sharing the Gospel?
