Lots of People Fish

Millions do it to have food and many others do it for pleasure. Jesus picked up on this lifestyle and told his selected tribe of followers that He wanted them to follow Him because He would make them “fishers of men.” The followers understood that concept and as the Scriptures record, “left all” to follow Jesus. This would include Peter, his brother, and some of their other fishing buddies.

After Jesus’ death, He left a global mandate at the doorway of His followers’ hearts. “Go and make disciples” – in other words start becoming fishers of men! With over 250 countries, 6,500 languages, and 15,000 specific people groups today, you and I can’t fish for men in every pond or every country or be fluent in every language group. BUT what we can do is provide the bait and tackle for those who are fishing!

That’s what Good News Productions, International did for me and the team I worked with in Kitale, Kenya in the 1980s and 1990s, and it is what it is still doing today. We went as missionaries or as “fishers of men.” GNPI provided us with customized audio and video teaching materials that enticed or “baited our Kenyan listeners” to come and see that the Lord is good! The result: the Good News of Jesus was shared in a language and through a cultural lens that was understandable. The final outcome:  people were baptized and churches started!

Take a moment to look at our Project Page. It is the “Bait and Tackle” that the nationals and missionaries—today’s spiritual fishermen—want us to produce to help them fish!

Bottom line—through GNPI you provide digital hooks and worms to catch people. Are you ready to go fishing?
